Seminar For Tomorrow's Leaders
Giving back is core to my heart. In Rotary, I serve with fellow friends and Rotarians in my club and beyond- Mecklenburg County South Rotary, Rotary District 7680, and Rotary Zones 33/34. Since 2010, Seminar For Tomorrow's Leaders has been a highlight of service for me. I began as a mentor and was invited to lead the program the following year allowing me to use my gifts and passion while leaning into my values and connecting with others. And, teens are SO. MUCH. FUN! Yes, I said that! I really enjoy working with young people as they learn and grow during a pivotal time of life. Seminar For Tomorrow Leaders (SFTL) began as a seed of a thought in 2008 and developed into a collaborative leadership program emphasizing servant leadership; it was custom designed and licensed by The Center For Creative Leadership(CCL), an international award-winning top leader in executive training and leadership development. After an 18 year relationship with CCL, the program now stands alone. Funded by the Rotary Clubs of Rotary District 7680 and hosted by a dedicated team of volunteers each year, the program has served over 1000 teen participants. ROTARY 7680 END POLIO NOW KILIMANJARO CLIMB
In 2012, I joined 28 Rotarians in the inaugural Rotary Kilimanjaro Climb raising funds to End Polio Now throughout the world. It was truly a mountain top experience that changed my perspective on life. The culmination of courage, compassion, and connection. Together, our climb raised over $130,000 to help eradicate polio in the last four countries at the time-Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and Nigeria. Currently, only Pakistan remains. Polio is very close to extinction. Rotary along with matching grants from The Gates Foundation is committed to the very end. Since 2012, approximately 32 more climbers have joined the challenge. I enjoy speaking and sharing stories and unforgettable lessons from Kilimanjaro.
